A beginner's guide to using the Guernsey Goat Pedigree Database

  1. Sign in. If you receive an error message in the search box, it is probably because you need to sign in, or sign in again.
  2. Decide on a search. There are a number of different search options in the database.

How to search for animals that meet the ADGA requirements for breed recognition

  1. Select "Meets4Gen" from the drop down menu after "Field to search."
  2. Type "yes" into the "Search String" box and select "10" from the drop down menu after "Born in the last N years."
  3. Click "Search Now."

How to search for Guernseys near you

  1. Select "Location" from the drop down menu after "Field to search."
  2. Type the name of your state (not the abbreviation) into the "Search String" box.
  3. Click "Search Now." If no results are shown, there are no Guernsey owners listed for your state.
  4. Try the same search with a different state in the search box. Several active breeders have email addresses and/or websites listed with the search results on animals they own.

How to search for your own animals by ADGA member number

  1. Search by owner: Select "Owner" from the drop down menu after "Field to search."
  2. Type your ADGA member number into the box. If you are not an ADGA member, type your last name.
  3. Click "Search Now."

How to search for your own animals by breeder

  1. Select "Breeder" from the drop down menu after "Field to search."
  2. Type your ADGA member number into the box. If you are not an ADGA member, type your last name.
  3. Click "Search Now."

How to search for your own animals by name

  1. Select "Name" from the drop down menu after "Field to search."
  2. Type your ADGA herd name into the box. If you are not an ADGA member, your BGS herd name should work. If neither herd name works, try the animal name without the herd name.

How to search for animals with four generations of photos in the pedigree

  1. Select "4GenPhotoPed" from the drop down menu after "Field to search."
  2. Type "yes" into the "Search String" box.
  3. Click "Search Now."
